Qualifications of students accepted in Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Chiba University
Students will learn and do reseach on the following topics at the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences.
- Research concerning development of therapeutic drugs, diagnosis and prevention of disease, and interactions between a drug and the body.
- Research concerning relationships between environmental chemicals and human health from viewpoints of the public health
- Research concerning pathological analysis, management and delivery of drugs, and collection and provision of drug information, to facilitate proper use of drugs as a member of team medical care.
We expect that students will contribute to improvements of human health and welfare based on our education and research. We also cultivate pharmacists who understand viewpoints of scientist.
Therefore, we welcome the following students.
- Students who have strong inquiring mind, and ability of logical thinking free from existing knowledge
- Students who want to learn at our graduate school to become researcher or educator in fields of life science and drug discovery.
- Students who want to take leadership as an advanced pharmacist
Admissions Policy
In order to select students consistent with the admissions policy of our faculty, we provide multiple opportunities of the examination. In addition to general admissions, we have special admissions, admission by recommendation, returnee admissions, admissions for privately financed international students, and admissions for returnees to the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences with enrollment in September (autumn enrollment). We use scholastic achievement tests, transcripts, interviews and general testing appropriate to each selection method to ensure general evaluation of the abilities and qualities of each applicant.
General Admissions
First semester schedule
- We make a general assessment of the results of the National Center Test for University Admissions (Japanese, Geography, History and Civics, Mathematics, Science, and Foreign Languages), the results of individual scholastic achievement tests (Mathematics, Science, and Foreign Languages [English]), and the content of transcripts.
Second semester schedule
- We make a general assessment of the results of the National Center Test for University Admissions (Japanese, Geography, History and Civics, Mathematics, Science, and Foreign Languages), the results of qualification testing (concerning Chemistry and English), and the content of transcripts.
Special admissions
Admission by recommendation
- We make a general assessment of the results of the National Center Test for University Admissions (Japanese, Geography, History and Civics, Mathematics, Science, and Foreign Languages), the results of individual scholastic achievement tests (Mathematics, Science, and Foreign Languages [English]), and the content of transcripts.
Returnee admissions
- For students who wish to study at the university making use of experience gained through study abroad, we make a general assessment based on letters of recommendation, statement of purpose, transcripts, qualification testing, interviews and so on.
Admissions for privately financed international students
- We make a general assessment of the Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students administered by the Japan Student Services Organization, TOEFL administered by the Educational Testing Service (ETS) or TOEIC, academic ability tests and interviews.
Admissions for returnees to the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences with enrollment in September (autumn enrollment)
- For students who wish to study at the university making use of experience gained through study abroad, we make a general assessment based on letters of recommendation, statement of purpose, transcripts, foreign languages (English), science (Chemistry I & II, Biology), interviews and so on.
Subjects that should be learned before enrolling in Chiba University
In addition to the science subjects (mathematics and science) and foreign languages required as the basic scholastic ability for pharmacology, we expect that students will have studied the other subjects (Japanese, Geography, History and Civics) required for general admission and admission by recommendation in the National Center Test for University Admissions. Regarding the science subjects, we hope that students will have studied both physics and biology in addition to chemistry. At last but not least, because rich humanity must flow underlying pharmaceutical sciences, we expect students will have learned liberal arts necessary to cultivate it.
